Opportunities in times of crisis
"The crisis is the greatest blessing that can happen to the person and to the countries because it increments the progress"
"It is the crisis when the invention and discovery are born."
These two sentences were pronounced by Albert Einstein, although at the bottom of ourselves we could agree with them, let’s reflect and transmit these statements to our daily jobs.
If you delve into these two phrases and bring them to the present time, the time of crisis that we live, we could see that all the companies, whichever is their sector, they seek to profit by providing services that had never given before and logically by the time they are not the experts. In times of crisis, we must reinvent ourselves, think and try to offer new services to our customers.
By all means, dear Readers, the market is free and anyone can offer the services which he finds appropriate in order to bring the business through these times.
Let’s go further, and apply these reflections in the field of consultancy, advisory, advocacy, etc. where the competition in this sector is very hard: large firms that can afford lower prices, medium firms with higher prices and many small consultancies at the ground level. Today we find companies which begin to offer to our customers the services which had never offered before. To give you an example, who has not observed it in the recents months:
- Lawyers who offer to their customers the preparation of annual accounts claiming a great experience in this work
- The consultancy companies offering a wide range of technology outsourcing
- Some well-known law firms, smelling the opportunity, offer the debt-collection saying that they have a specialized team, years and years of experience as well as achievements and successes in the sector.
Unfortunately, the debt collection has become a high demand service, but where were the companies now emerging in large numbers two years ago when a debt recovery wasn’t so big issue? Is it a true that they have much experience in this field as they say?
At no time it is our intention to discourage the initiative, new projects, expanding the range of services that can offer a company, and so on. However, I advise you to be careful when you choose your suppliers, and ensure that they really are experts in what they claim to be. Do not let them take the advantage of you and, if possible, ask for references, since in many cases, although the intention of these non-experts is good (they really try to do their best), the truth is that lack of experience can lead to complications and loss of time for your company.
Briefly, what we manifest through this article is that, although according to Albert Einstein’s words in crisis the invention and discovery are born, in most of the cases for specific issues we must go to the experts.
