The financial crisis is behind us, but what about the economic crisis?
Even if all the banks have not finished yet tidying their accounts from the toxic assets, the financial sphere, during the last few months showed us that the financial crisis is behind us. Stock indexes went up again, banks met profits again, traders won again end year bonuses… but what about the economic crisis? Our industries, our companies did not meet yet the economic growth, far from it! Analysts announce a difficult 2010 year, with higher unemployment, increased precariousness for the employees, and no real increase in the households’ consumption. 2011 is even announced by some as the year of possible economic recovery in Europe.
The trust of all the economic agents has been damaged by the fall of the financial markets. While this crisis did not finally question the world financial strategy, the end of the economic crisis is already planned with real estate price increases, improved rates for employment and inflation in prime materials. This reminds us the economic cycles theories in which the crisis periods always follow economic recoveries.
Moreover, and once more, the economic recovery in Europe remains tightly linked to the end of the economic crisis in United States. In order to limit our dependence on the America, the European countries need to build their business activities so that they will be able to develop strong technological and cultural know-how. Only this will allow them to export in many countries, and this, without taking too much into account what is happening overseas. Of course, we must clearly and quickly reduce our energy dependence by orienting our economies towards renewable energies , electric vehicles…
Implement such structural decisions will allow us on medium and long term to reinforce our economies. This will probably mean a tighten relationships between banks, entrepreneurs and incentive measures for entrepreneurship created by the governments. The question remains to know if the national governments will be able to take the right decisions. Innovating can create economic growth and prosperity. The banks will remain in the heart of the economy; the citizen and Small & Medium Enterprises will be in the source of the creativity. They must be encouraged by the bank system, if necessary with the support of the States. The Economic History proves us that we must stay calm, and patient, and more that ever cautious on the opportunities that will be created by the new coming innovations in the phases of economic recovery. Entrepreneurs must have the solutions to finance their businesses, their development plans, their needs of renewing equipments…
